Same category, different motion
Category search for generic 'AI chatbot' is crowded and, on at least one daily series, smaller than a year ago. The remaining commercial questions are about who sets it up, who is liable for a bad answer, and whether it will invent a fee.
- Self-serve builders: sign up, paste URL or files, embed when you like. Entry prices commonly sit around $19–$40 a month (Chatbase Hobby, SiteGPT Starter, Tidio, Botsonic).
- Chatbase in particular grew on product-led growth — first payment minutes after a public demo, $10M ARR by March 2026, still bootstrapped.
- This assistant: no public dashboard, no card, no live embed until a person has approved the probes and you have a written quote.
- Vertical specialists already sell law-firm chatbots inbound (Verdian, RankMyFirm and others). We don't pretend that SERP is empty.
- If you need WhatsApp, voice, or a helpdesk in the same product, a builder with those channels may fit better today. We will say so.
The preview is free. Going live is a setup fee plus a monthly fee, quoted in writing after you've used it. We do not publish a monthly price here because the UK figure is not locked; we will not invent one.

We read the pages we're allowed to (robots.txt is respected), brand the assistant, and run refusal probes — including invented prices and false handoffs — before anyone outside the team sees it.

Usually within one business day. No login. It expires after 21 days. Try to make it invent a fee; it should refuse.

Same assistant, one script tag. Setup and monthly are quoted in your currency after you've used the preview. We don't put it on a live site for free.

So should I just use Chatbase?
Use a builder if you want to go live this afternoon, you are happy to configure and monitor it, and a missed invented price is acceptable. Request a preview here if you want someone else to crawl, brand, and probe it, and you only want it live after you've tried it.
Are you cheaper?
Not as a $30 subscription. Setup plus monthly is a services relationship. We quote after the preview so you can see the thing before you buy. We don't win a race against a free tier.
Can I try both?
Yes. A builder trial and our preview answer different questions. The builder shows you the category. The preview shows you your site.
